Murgon

... heartland gem

Murgon is the heart of the region's beef and dairying industries, and features the only dairy museum in Queensland.  A short drive over Boat Mountain provides magnificent views and you will find an environmental park.

Murgon Lake Barambah (Bjelke-Petersen Dam) is just 12 kilometres from Murgon and has a tourist park alongside which offers visitors facilities including boat ramps, shelter sheds, barbeques, picnic grounds, camp sites, cabins, shop and boat hire.  A favoured fishing spot, the dam is also ideal for a range of water-sports.

Murgon is a fossicker's delight with a number of gem fields located around the district.  You will also find some fantastic boutique wineries, catering for independent travellers or groups, dotted throughout the area.
