The complex represents a step back in time to 1847, when the Lawson brothers with Robert Alexander established the Boondooma Station. As with other isolated stations in the early days, the homestead and surrounding acreage was built with the basic necessities similar to a small village. The remains of these buildings are 'in situ' today - the homestead which is being restored, the Stone Store, Post Office, and the grave of an early Manager. To this has been added a Museum, DPI Hut, toilet block and caretaker's residence.
